An e-bike tour into the countryside:
Hire one of our eBikes and spend a wonderful day in the beautiful Salzburger Land!
Tour 1: Along the Salzach to the Silent Night Chapel
A cycle tour to the “Silent Night” chapel along the Salzach is also something special in summer – and not only allowed at Christmas time. As a reward for every cyclist, there is either Bavarian or Salzburg beer, depending on which side of the Salzach you choose for your cycle tour. And: a bike ride along the water also cools you down on hot days.
Visit the Silent Night Museum and the Silent Night Chapel. The chapel was built on the site of the former St. Nicholas Church, the place where the world’s most famous Christmas carol was performed for the first time on December 24, 1818.
Travel time: approx. 1h30min per direction
Distance: approx. 45km
Tour 2: A tour around the Wallersee
The lakes around Salzburg are a special jewel of our region. This cycling trip is not only a pleasure throughout, but also an inspiration to a certain extent. The natural Wallersee lake is just as inviting for swimming as it is for boating or fishing. The big advantage of this cycle tour is that the route home to Villa Wickenburg is more downhill, so you can save your energy for a leisurely evening program!
Tip for the route: At Lake Wallersee there are several options for a dip in the cold water without having to pay admission (e.g.: Seekirchen lido)
Travel time: approx. 3h, whole round
Distance: approx. 43km
Tour 3: Maria Plain pilgrimage basilica:
The Maria Plain pilgrimage church is a quasi-neighboring excursion destination to our house and is ideal for cycling or walking/hiking. Wonderfully situated with a special view of the whole of Salzburg including the mountain panorama. A candle for God’s blessing is recommended before a stop at the well-known Plainwirt.
Tour 4: The Gaisberg – Salzburg’s local mountain:
If the Plainberg on the doorstep of Villa Wickenburg is not high enough for you, the Gaisberg is Salzburg’s local mountain.
This popular Salzburg destination can be reached not only by e-bike or on foot, but also by car or bus.
Whether directly on the Gaisbergspitz or on the famous Gaisberg circular hiking trail, there are phenomenal views of the city of Salzburg lying at your feet, as well as of the surrounding mountains including the Dachstein, Tennengebirge and Hagengebirge, Göll and Untersberg, all the way to the Hohenstauffen.
Gaisberg adventure world – just enjoy it!
Tour 5: Mattsee with lake hike
The so-called Trumer lakes invite locals and Salzburg tourists to visit. Particularly recommended: Mattsee, which has a charming town center with its own monastery and castle on the lake!
Walks and hikes, as well as bike rides, on and around the lake are possible all year round. Alpine foothills at it ́s best!
And beware: Mattsee Castle is also a popular wedding location and the ideal place to say “I do”!
